A gypsy lifestyle ... at last?

Why not write a post in purple, since I'm becoming a bit of a gypsy anyway?  May as well be out there and flamboyant, right?

I love to write, and don't know why I've waited so long to bring up the blog again.  Oh, now I know -- too much to do, not enough time, no energy, etc.  Excuses.  Which are evaporating. Well, not the excuses, but time is evaporating!

When Spouse and I retired, we were dealing with the death of Momma 'Leen, the fast sale of our large house and huge shed, the push to find a place to live (with no home on the horizon!), and more STUFF than any two (or twelve) people should have in nooks and crannies!  We packed, had sales, posted items online for sale, shopped for homes, went to work for another few months, loaded almost everything we owned (friends let us keep some of our bigger items stored in their shed), and finally found a home to rent about 5 miles away.  Whew.

Now, over 5 years later we are "settled." Close to a lake, in a neighborhood of good people.  Life as a gypsy hasn't transpired as I'd hoped.  But then, neither has the wealth.  So we gypsies take the occasional spontaneous road trip--almost always by car, but by train when possible.  It was a huge mistake to rip out the railroad lines around the country.  There are few routes into the west, and most rails are controlled by freight runners.  Once again, "stuff" takes precedence over people.

Now that THE YEAR OF COVID has slid into the YEAR OF WONDERING WHAT'S NEXT, we move about with more freedom, but there is always the shadow of "more cases," "new variant," "faster spreading," to throw fear into our hearts.  We are tired of fear.  Tired of avoiding our humans.  Incredibly tired of FOX news and others that so love to spread lies. Tired of wondering what's next.

If you haven't watched the sci-fi film "Elysium," you should consider it. I suspect it's what Bezos/Branson/Musk are working on.

Stay upright...
